Artistic Producer & Publisher // Founder and CEO
Producer and music manager Thomas Schmölz has been active in the field of the musical avant-garde in various capacities for many years. Graduated from the University of Siegen in 2001 with a degree in media management, since then he has been producing new film scores on behalf of ZDF and ARD in collaboration with ARTE for the series "Stummfilm auf ARTE" (Silent Film on ARTE). For more than 130 film music productions to date, he has worked with internationally renowned orchestras, ensembles, and composers of contemporary music, including Diego Ramos Rodríguez, Tobias Schwencke, Bernd Thewes, Martin Derek Pring, Johannes Kalitzke, Reinhard Febel, Malte Giesen, and the ensembles der/gelbe/klang, intercontemporain, Garage, recherche, and Musikfabrik, the radio symphony orchestras of WDR, hr, MDR, and the Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin, the Real Orquesta Sinfónica Sevilla, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, L'Orchestre des Jardins Musicaux, and others. Many of his silent film productions have been released on DVD. Since 2022, he has been presenting selected ARTE productions as live film concerts under the ARTE CINE CONCERT label in cooperation with concert halls and film and music festivals, including the Konzerthaus Berlin, Wiener Konzerthaus, WDR Funkhaus Cologne, Tafelhalle Nuremberg, and Philharmonie Luxembourg. In addition, since 2021, the most outstanding film scores have been published in the 2eleven edition musiQ. He also has an interest in new music theater. Most recently, he produced “Ich bin Carmen. من کارمن ھستم Und das ist kein Liebeslied” (T+R: Paul-Georg Dittrich and Hasti Molavian, M: Tobias Schwencke, Christopher Scheuer) in cooperation with the theaters in Bremen and Bielefeld, which will premiere in Bremen on April 4, 2021. Until 2015, he directed several music festivals: the Hamburger Klangwerktage (2006-2008), which he founded, the mehrklang Festival in Freiburg (2009-2011), and most recently the third edition of the cresc... Biennale Frankfurt (2015).
